The faithful love of the Lord never ends!! His mercies never cease. Lamentations 3:22
And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. John 17:3
Eternity with Jesus includes today. My study Bible notes reminded me that happiness depends on happenings and joy depends on Christ. “Joy is the quiet confident assurance of God’s love and work in our lives – that He will be there no matter what.”
Philippians is Paul’s joy letter and it was written from prison, yet he reminds us to “always be full of joy in the Lord.” (Phil. 4:4)
Eternity including today is a LONG FOREVER with Perfect Love.
In this world, we can expect challenges in our circumstances in the area of love. Why wouldn’t the enemy of our souls strategically attack us in that part of our lives? I’ve had my fair share of grief for having loved and lost and maybe you have too. While the enemy would like for us give up on love, the Spirit of God is always there to help us stand victorious despite His lies. He helps us choose Jesus, God’s beautiful gift of love to us, as the “cornerstone” or foundation for our life as the Bride of Christ. And if we need to have our foundations rebuilt after something devastating, Isaiah 54 tells us that our God has a big restoration planned.
For the mountains may move and the hills disappear,
but even then, my faithful love for you will remain.
My covenant of blessing will never be broken,
says the Lord, who has mercy on you. (vs. 10)
O storm-battered city, troubled and desolate!
I will rebuild you with precious jewels and make your foundations from lapis lazuli. (vs. 11)
Encouraging Myself in the Lord
The truth I regularly tell myself is that I was created in love. I was redeemed from ALL MY SINS in love. Love sings over me, delights in His victory over the evil one in my life (Zephaniah 3:17). Love chose me and opened the doors of heaven to welcome me into the family where all my needs for love would ALWAYS be supplied. As a child of God who relies on God, I will not lack (Psalm 34:9-10).
So I will not lack love! There is more than enough love for me in heaven and on earth! Love has made a way for me and love will continue to make a way for me because LOVE is faithful to His Word. The door (or gate) to heaven’s perfect love is Jesus and all I have to do is believe He is who He said He is (John 10:9). My work is to believe! (John 6:29)
This is my way of soaking up that gospel love, building up my faith in who God is, and finding rest in who I am to Him. These truths have nothing to do with my “happenings” or yours. Mercy (forgiveness) is new for me and you every day. The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases for both of us. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
We are RICHLY, ABUNDANTLY LOVED.
Prayer: I pray in Jesus name that the dynamite power of the Holy Spirit will empower us to believe we are abundantly loved despite what has happened or might happen here on earth. I pray that our roots will go down deep into His love and keep us strong! I pray that our hearts would not grow cold and instead that we would have His help to comprehend the extravagance of His love. I pray the fullness of God’s almighty love, demonstrated to us by Jesus, will overflow in our homes, communities and churches. Amen (Eph. 3:17-19; Matt. 24:12; 1 Thes. 3:12)
Name of Jesus – The Door
John 10:9 – I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
Jesus is the door (some translations use the word gate) to God who is pure love and who is loving you with a pure heart. We all long to be known and loved. The only way to access that love is to believe in Jesus Christ, our Savior! He is the true hero in our story. He is the soon coming King!
